Soul/RnB Christmas holiday music through the decades: The present

The Christmas and Kwanzaa are a few days away, and I want to wish everyone happy, safe and peaceful holidays! A great way to enjoy your holidays is with unique holiday songs! Within five posts, I gave you holiday tunes from the seventies though the early 2000's. Now, I am happy to say that I collected current holiday songs (2010-current)! Check out five great current holiday tunes and make sure you share your thoughts on the holiday songs you viewed or share you views on your favorite holiday songs!

R.Kelly- Love Letter Christmas (2010)

In 2010, the creative genius named R. Kelly, also known as Kels and better known as the Piped Piper of RnB released the album Love Letter. R. Kelly put a Christmas spin on his 2010 single Love Letter by switching some lyrics around to get listeners into the festive mode.

Oh but don't fret, Kels recently stated he is going to release a holiday album next year, and the songs is about a whole lot of love making (I see where his mind is, I see Black Panties wasn't enough huh)!

Kem- Jesus feat. Patti LaBelle and Ron Isley (2013)

What happens when you bring two Rnb icons, and a jazz/Rnb artist with an impeccable voice for a Christmas song, an official Christmas track called Jesus! Kem recently released a deluxe version of his 2012 Christmas album with bonus songs including the song Jesus. This song is smooth with a gospel feel, thanks to Ms. Patti "going off" in a good way!

CeeLo Green- Mary Did You Know (2012)

I'm not going to lie, when I was chilling on a Saturday watching Christmas at the Grove rerun and heard CeeLo Green sing Mary Did You Know, I had to find that song and put it on Soul You Know. From his 2012 Christmas album Magic Moment, CeeLo put his soulful vocals on the 1984 Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene Christian timeless song. I have to give it to CeeLo, this song really showed people that he can really "sang".

Mary J. Blige- My Favorite Things (2013)

Mary brought an eclectic mixture of singers (Marc Anthony, Barbara Streisand, Jessie J, The Clark Sisters and more. )on her second Christmas album, A Mary Christmas. A song I like from her album is Mary's rendition of the 1959 Sound of Music classic- My Favorite Things. MJB recently released a video for this My Favorite Things, and it shows her in various all white settings "sanging" about her favorite things!

Devyn Kelly- All I want This Year (2013)

RnB songstress and Raphael Saadiq collaborator Devyn Kelly recently released her first Christmas EP titled Wish List: All I Want This Year. The Houston Texas native stated the reason why she made a Christmas EP with original songs because “I wanted to make holiday music that everyone could enjoy. I had an amazing time making this music. My producer Darien Dorsey and I wanted to make sure the songs were musical, genuine and fun. I see my songs as amazing gift alternatives.”
A song I gravitated to the most from her Christmas EP is titled "Is All I Want This Year". Although the song is less than two minutes, I'm feeling this vivid love song. The lyrical content about the true meaning of Christmas along with Devyn's amazing voice are reasons why you should add this song to your holiday playlist!
